Joseph Botticelli
Joseph Botticelli (BS ’82, MS ’86) became director of pharmacy at St. Joseph Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
Matt Mabie (BS ’98) founded Forward Pharmacy in Cottage Grove, Wis.
James Lund
James Lund (PharmD ’08, MS ’20) became director of Pharmacy Operations at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Mass.
Jason Christensen
 Jason Christensen (PharmD ’07, MS ’09) became the senior director of pharmacy at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
Funmi Abraham
Olufunmilola Abraham (MS ’11, PhD ’13) became assistant professor at the UW–Madison School of Pharmacy’s Social and Administrative Sciences Division in Madison, Wis.

 

Promotions

 
Pat Cory (BS ’92, PharmD ’95) was promoted to program director of Pharmacy Benefit Management Services at UW Health in Madison, Wis.
Brad Ludwig (BS ’94, MS ’98) was promoted to director of Integrated Pharmacy Services at UW Health in Madison, Wis.
Philip Trapskin (BS ’99, PharmD ’00) was promoted to program director of Medication Use Strategy and Innovation at UW Health in Madison, Wis.
Dave Hager (PharmD ’05) was promoted to director of Clinical Pharmacy Services at UW Health in Madison, Wis.
Monica Bogenschutz
Monica Bogenschutz (PharmD ’08) was promoted to clinical coordinator of Pediatric Pharmacy at UW Health in Madison, Wis.
Joe Cesarz (PharmD ’10, MS ’12) was promoted to director of Ambulatory Pharmacy Services at UW Health in Madison, Wis.
 
Ben Heiser (PharmD ’11) was promoted to senior manager of Specialty Pharmacy Operations at Lumicera Health Services in Madison, Wis.
Korby Lathrop (PharmD ’11, MS ’13) was promoted to assistant director of Pharmacy IT, Medication, and Pharmacy Benefit Management at the University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City, Kan.
 
Meghann (Zutz) Voegeli (PharmD ’11, MS ’13) was promoted to director of Inpatient Pharmacy Operations at UW Health in Madison, Wis.
 

Recognition & Awards

Beth Martin
Beth Martin (BS ’90, MS ’03, PhD ’06) is being inducted as a fellow by the American Pharmacist Association’s Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science (APhA-APRS).
Nate Rickles (MS ’99, PhD ’03) is being inducted as an APhA-APRS fellow.
Lisa Guirguis (PhD ’06) is being inducted as an APhA-APRS fellow.
Kevin Look
Kevin Look (PharmD ’09, MS ’11, PhD ’13) co-authored a study with doctoral student Joohyun Park that was covered by Reuters. The study, published in the Journal of Oncology Practice, examines the physical, mental, economic, and social impacts of the high financial burden of health care for cancer patients.
Funmi Abraham
Olufunmilola Abraham (MS ’11, PhD ’13) won the Wiederholt Prize for her paper, “Pediatric Medication Use Experiences and Patient Counseling in Community Pharmacies: Perspectives of Children and Parents,” published in the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association.
Catherine Kuecker (PharmD ’17) won the Ton Hoeck Scholarship from the American Pharmacist Association Foundation to attend the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) World Congress.
 
 

In Memoriam

Martin Zempel
Martin Zempel (BS ’52) passed away in March 2018. Zempel was a World War II veteran and former owner of Park-View Pharmacy in Elkhorn, Wis. He shared two children and seven grandchildren with his wife of more than 55 years, Lavonne.
Brian Bach
Brian Bach (BS ’81) passed away in February 2018. Bach loved being outdoors, kayaking, hunting, horseback riding, woodworking, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
James Lakowski
James Laskowski (BS ’98) passed away in January 2017. His love for farming, pharmacy, and pecan pie is remembered fondly by his wife, Carolyn, and their five children.
