Project ADHERE is the two-year randomized controlled trial mixed methods study, funded by MERCK Sharp & Dohme, that involves developing, conducting, and assessing the impact of a pharmacist-led health literacy tailored patient education/medication counseling program to improve clinical outcomes in patients with diabetes.

This intervention focuses on addressing negative illness and medication beliefs and enhancing patient’s self-efficacy and medication adherence. This study examines if usual care combined with a clinic-based health literacy/psychosocial support intervention improves medication adherence compared to usual care alone.
