The objective of the FY21 contract (September 2020-September 2021) between the Wisconsin Department of Health Services  and the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy, Social & Administrative Sciences Division (Principal Investigator James H Ford, II, PhD) was to continue to explore the role of the community pharmacy in addressing the opioid crisis in Wisconsin. The contract had three distinct goals:

  • Goal 1: Develop and disseminate information and educational content on pharmacist provided injectable naltrexone
  • Goal 2: Explore prescribers and pharmacy partnerships around the provision of injectable naltrexone
  • Goal 3: Assess and evaluate partnerships between the criminal justice system and community pharmacies to provide injectable naltrexone to their clients

It was through this contract that we developed the Injectable Naltrexone Best Practices website and the Injectable Naltrexone Cost Calculator.
