The UW–Madison School of Pharmacy Office of Global Health invites you to an exciting weekend honoring two decades of global learning experiences for pharmacy students. Together, we’ll celebrate the transformative impact of these experiences and raise funds to support future student training abroad through travel scholarships.
The weekend will include three events:
- A Gala Pre-Party Wine Tasting and Food Pairing event will welcome alums and friends of the Office of Global Health to our celebration weekend on Friday evening, August 8th.
- Global Health Teatime Connections will invite School of Pharmacy global health alumni to connect with current students mid-day before the gala, on Saturday, August 9th.
- The main Gala dinner event will be held at the Memorial Union Tripp Commons and balcony. The evening will feature globally inspired food, music, and local performances. Menu items will be inspired by dishes from global pharmacy experiential sites, such as Thailand, South Africa, Belize, and Spain.
We have three unique fundraising opportunities for the 20th-anniversary Global Health Gala and an option to donate to the Curtis A. Johnson Global Health Fund in Pharmacy. This fund honors the legacy of Curt Johnson (1947-2011), whose vision and leadership established the first international rotations for UW pharmacy students and fostered collaborations worldwide. If you’re unable to attend in person but would still like to contribute to student global health experiences, we offer an option for that as well. You can “Support the Global Health Program” on the Event Registration page.
Join us for a wine-tasting and food-pairing event to connect with fellow alumni and friends of the Office of Global Health. Taste wines from small family-owned vineyards from regions around our international pharmacy experiential education (APPE) site in South Africa. Chef-prepared local food pairings will accompany each tasting. The ticket includes six wine tastings with sweet and savory food pairings. Proceeds will support student travel scholarships.
International APPE alumni are invited to join current pharmacy students for a Tea Party prior to the gala. Share your unique international experience with current pharmacy students over high tea.
The gala evening will celebrate 20 years of the Office of Global Health at the School of Pharmacy with globally inspired food, music, and local performances. Menu items will be inspired by dishes from global pharmacy experiential sites, such as Thailand, South Africa, Belize, and Spain. The ticket includes dinner and drinks. 100% of gala dinner ticket funds raised will support student travel scholarships. Festive formal attire is encouraged.
