Barry Gidal, Division Chair and Professor of Pharmacy and Neurology (CHS) in the Pharmacy Practice Division is among a few experts invited to participate in TalkAboutIT.org videos addressing epilepsy. TalkAboutIt.org was created by actor Greg Grunberg in collaboration with the Epilepsy Foundation. The organization provides a platform for celebrities of television, film, and music to come together with top epilepsy and seizure experts to help end misperceptions and misunderstandings about epilepsy. Grunberg is a television and film actor best known for his role of Matt Parkman in the NBC television series Heroes and “Snap” Wexley in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Recent videos with Grunberg highlighted “Taking Your Meds” and the “Evolution of Epilepsy Therapy.” In addition, Gidal participated in an overview interview with Rick Harrison, co-host of the television show Pawn Stars. Gidal’s practice interests are in the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients with epilepsy. His research interests focus on pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and the metabolic effects of anticonvulsant medications. Gidal is on the editorial boards for Epilepsy Research, Epilepsia, Epilepsy & Behavior, Annals of Pharmacotherapy and Pharmacists Letter.
