2016 offers robust options for pharmaceutical industry scientists

The Division of Pharmacy Professional Development (DPPD) is in the midst of planning for its 2016 professional development programs targeted to scientists in the pharmaceutical industry. Programs in development include: the Land O’Lakes Conference series; industrial short-courses; the Applied Drug Development Core Curriculum; and online courses.

The 2016 Land O’Lakes series includes: the 58th Annual International Industrial Pharmaceutical Research and Development Conference, focusing on amorphous materials and dispersions/pharmaceuticals, to be held June 6-9; the 17th Annual Bioanalytical Conference, focusing on biosimilars, to be held July 11-14; the 56th Annual Pharmaceutical Analysis Conference, focusing on themes of impurities and global registration challenges within the context of impurities, to be held August 1-4; and the 19th Annual Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics Conference, focusing on large molecules, to be held September 12-15. All four Conferences, to be held on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, will feature focused discussions/presentations with industry experts addressing current trends/techniques/advances within the context of the specific conference theme, while providing a unique opportunity to network with industry colleagues/experts.

DPPD is excited to announce that the June 6-9, 2016 Land O’Lakes Conference will honor Emeritus Dean and Professor George Zografi for his impact as a person, scholar, scientist and mentor. With the conference theme focusing on amorphous materials and dispersions/pharmaceuticals, there will be an emphasis on Dr. Zografi’s research and contributions to pharmaceutical science, including a keynote presentation by Dr. Zografi. Plan now to participate in this significant event.

The 2016 industrial short-courses are held on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus and are scheduled in the month of May. Courses to be offered in 2016 include: Principles of Solid Dosage Forms and Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics. Other short-course topics will be added. These short-courses intensely focus on the chosen topic and provide a unique opportunity to network with industry colleagues/experts. Modules for the Applied Drug Development Core Curriculum include two live modules (held on the UW-Madison campus), one of which is scheduled for October 17-20 as well as one online module which will be offered in January and in September. Additionally, other online Industry courses include: Applied Drug Metabolism, Cardiovascular Physiology and Pharmacology, Drug Targets of the CNS, and Precision Medicine in Oncology.
