Kevin Look, assistant professor, Social and Administrative Sciences Division and Amanda Margolis, lecturer, Pharmacy Practice Division, received the 2015 Curtis A. Johnson Award for their contributions to The Journal of the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin.
Look and Margolis were selected for their ongoing statistics review which has been published continuously since 2013. The statistics review is a series of 13 articles including the interpretation of fundamental measures, statistics, study designs, and research methods commonly used in medical literature, tailored to practicing pharmacists. Inspiration for this series stems from the need for pharmacists to understand statistics in order to properly interpret and evaluate the findings from research articles.
Look and Margolis coordinated the series and used it as an opportunity for local pharmacy residents and students to gain experience in publishing. They acknowledge the contributions of their co-authors in this series.
The Curtis A. Johnson Award recognizes an outstanding contributor to The Journal of the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin during a calendar year. This may include an author(s) who submitted a manuscript that advances the practice of pharmacy or an individual who contributed significantly to the annual editorial plan of The Journal. The selected author(s) or contributor is chosen by members of the The Journal Editorial Advisory Board and Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin staff.
Look and Margolis were formally recognized at the PSW Educational Conference held April 10, 2015 in Madison, Wis.
