Faculty provide expertise for drug card book

Pharmacy Practice Division faculty Jill Kolesar, professor (CHS) and Director, 3P Analytical Instrumentation Laboratory, UW Carbone Cancer Center, and Lee Vermeulen, clinical professor and Director, Center for Clinical Knowledge Management, UW Health, are editors of the soon to be released 1st edition of Top 100 Nonprescription Drug Cards.

Due to publish in mid-December, Top 100 Nonprescription Drug Cards book is designed as a resource for pharmacy students in Self-Care courses and contains information about the 100 most frequently used over-the-counter medications and herbal supplements available in U.S. pharmacies. Each card includes the essential drug facts about the medication or supplement, including clinical pearls, triage criteria, self-care monitoring parameters.

Several School of Pharmacy colleagues were also involved in the project. Charlie Lee, clinical instructor, is a contributing editor. Karen Kopacek, associate professor (CHS), Pharmacy Practice Division, and Associate Dean, Student & Academic Affairs, Steve Oakes, clinical assistant professor, Pharmaceutical Sciences Division, and Orly Vardeny, associate professor (CHS), Pharmacy Practice Division, are members of the faculty advisory panel.
