Professor Emerita Bonnie Svarstad received the 2014 American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Wiederholt Prize, an honor that recognizes the best paper published in the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association (JAPhA) within the past two calendar years, describing original investigation the areas of economic, social, or administrative sciences. Svarstad earned recognition for her paper titled “Improving refill adherence and hypertension control in black patients: Wisconsin TEAM trial,” which was published in the September/October 2013 issue of the JAPhA [JAPhA. 2013 Sep-Oct;53(5):520-9].
While Svarstad was the lead author, UW-Madison School of Pharmacy colleagues Jeanine Mount, associate professor in the Social and Administrative Sciences Division, Eva Vivian, associate professor (CHS) in the Pharmacy Practice Division, and Dale Wilson, research manager, Social and Administrative Sciences Division, were co-authors of the study and paper.
Svarstad attended on behalf of her colleagues and was officially recognized during the APhA Annual Meeting and Exposition in Orlando, Fla. March 28-31, 2014. As co-winners, Mount, Vivian, and Wilson each received a plaque.
