The research of Professor Lingjun Li and Dr. Chenxi Jia in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Division is featured on the cover of Analytical Chemistry.

Following a February cover article in Analytical Chemistry, Dr. Chenxi Jia from Prof. Lingjun Li’s research group reported a novel site-specific strategy to rapidly and precisely localize D-amino acids in peptide epimers by ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) in the March 18 issue of Analytical Chemistry. The study represents a new route to obtain positional information of amino acid isomerizations in peptides by elucidating the IMS data of peptide fragment ions.

This article was selected for featuring in the Accounts of Chemical Research (ACS) Editor’s Choice, a program designed to select, feature, and make openly available one article per day from 44 peer-reviewed ACS journals to highlight exceptional research. Jia and Li’s research article represents roughly one of the top 10 selected articles in 1,000 publications in Analytical Chemistry annually.

Graduate students Chris Lietz and Qing Yu from the Li Group, are co-authors on the paper. The cover illustration was created by Sally Griffith-Oh, senior information processing consultant, UW-Madison School of Pharmacy.

Analytical Chemistry is a peer-reviewed research journal that is devoted to the dissemination of new and original knowledge in all branches of analytical chemistry, and is the most cited journal in this field.
