PPD faculty offer BLS training

Pharmacy Practice Division faculty members offered Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers training at the School of Pharmacy.

Approximately 250 students and faculty participated in the certification/recertification courses in September. Each course discusses how to identify and assist an adult, child, and infant experiencing a cardiac arrest. Participants are tested on their ability to perform chest compressions, rescue breathing, use of an automated external defibrillator, and assist a choking victim. Certified BLS instructors and Pharmacy Practice Division faculty include Susie Barnett, John Dopp, Barry Gidal, Paul Hutson, Marty Kieser, Karen Kopacek, Orly Vardeny, and Joe Zorek. The courses are sponsored by Wisconsin Society of Pharmacy Students (WSPS) and members provide technical support with course registration, set up and testing.
