Alzheimer’s research continues with NIH award

Jeff Johnson, professor in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Division, and Dr. Regina Murphy, professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, are Co-Principal Investigators of a five year R01 award from NIH that begins May 1, 2012.

Their combined expertise will be targeted at understanding how a protein called transthyretin can modulate neuronal cell death induced by amyloid-beta, the major protein involved in causing Alzheimer’s Disease.
