Meng-Jung (Google Scholar) is a third-year PhD student of Health Services Research in Pharmacy. She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy from Chia Nan University, and Master’s of Science in Clinical Pharmacy from Taipei Medical University, Taiwan. Her Master’s thesis was titled “A Phenomenological Inquiry of Patients with Lung Cancer Using Oral Targeted Therapy” and involved in quality improvement projects for PharmD curriculum and qualitative analyses of medication experience of patients across various chronic diseases.

Meng-Jung worked as research assistant at College of Pharmacy, Taipei Medical University, Taiwan after she earned her Master’s degree. She was involved in several government-funded projects including establishing protocols of regulations of controlled substances and Good Pharmacy Practice, developing evidence-based communication training and advocating pharmacists’ roles in vaccination. She also worked part-time as a staff pharmacist in a primary care clinic in Taipei, Taiwan.

Meng-Jung is now a member of Shiyanbola Research Group and working on several research projects of implementing a culturally-tailored community intervention that aims at improving medication adherence and Hemoglobin A1c among African-Americans with type 2 diabetes.

Meng-Jung is particularly interested in studying psychometrics in patient-related outcomes, especially in the medication use experience of cancer survivorship. She is doing an independent study in Fall 2022 with Professor Daniel Bolt on a project of exploring culturally adapted illness perception questionnaire items using network analysis and now pursuing a doctoral minor in Educational Psychology.

In summer 2022 & 2023, she worked with Dr. Marina Maes in the Pharmacy Practice Division as a research assistant working on the quality improvement of the Pharmacy Family Program and IPPE readiness project, and studying Wisconsin Community Pharmacists’ Perceptions on the Provision of Reproductive Health Care Services following Overturn of Roe v. Wade.

Meng-Jung is grateful to be part of the dynamic Shiyanbola Research Group team and hopes to use the experience from working on lab projects to build her own research as a graduate student and future academician. In her free time, she enjoys playing badminton, gardening, and exploring cool restaurants and outdoor activities in Wisconsin!
