Dr. Sharp is a professor of pharmacy systems, outcomes, and policy at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her area of research focuses on the health of minorities and underserved populations in regard to understanding the direct and indirect effects of stress and depression on chronic illness and cancer; fostering patient participation and communication in the doctor-patient relationship; and ecological, social and psychological influences on adherence.

Dr. Sharp is a collaborator in lab projects focused on:

• The development and implementation of the Peers LEAD medication adherence intervention for African Americans with type 2 diabetes
• The implementation of the Peers LEAD + Healthy Living with Diabetes intervention for African Americans with type 2 diabetes
