My name is Jiaying, Jacqueline Zhang, and I am currently working on my PharmD degree as a fourth-year pharmacy student at UW–Madison. I had a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Physiology at University of Iowa. I joined Dr. Shiyanbola’s lab in my second year of pharmacy school. I am very interested in Dr. Shiyanbola’s projects that I get to help with. They are very patient adherence oriented, and focus on diabetes medications in African American population. I am very fascinated with why patients are not adherent with their medications as well as how to improve their adherence. To me, medications are better than surgeries when they can cure or mitigate disease state in a non-invasive way. Other than my interest in research, I am also interested in oncology and immunotherapy of cancer in the medical field. Ultimately, my goal is taking care of patients, so I will do so if there is any opportunity.
