Symposium at the Society of Medicine Annual Conference

Dr. Shiyanbola was accepted to present a symposium, titled “Illness Perceptions: Currency of Leventhal’s Common-Sense Model of Self-Regulation in Behavioral Medicine” at the annual Society of Behavioral Medicine conference. Dr. Shiyanbola will be presenting with graduate student Deepika Rao, Jo-Hsin Chen and Meng-Jung Wen, the research group’s fall 2019 J1 Scholars from Taipei Medical University. The symposium presents data on the reliability and validity limitations of the Illness Perception Questionnaire-Revised when used among African Americans/Blacks prompting the need for a culturally adapted version of the questionnaire.

The conference was cancelled due to the pandemic.
