Dr. Shiyanbola discussed diabetes and shared the results from the Peers LEAD study with Black older adults who participate in the Diversity and Inclusion Program at Newbridge Senior Center. The Diversity and Inclusion program serves Black and Latinx older adults, age 60+, in Dane County. With goals to reduce racial and socioeconomic health disparities, they focus classes and programming on areas that help teach about healthy behaviors that can affect physical and mental well-being, while also helping them remain active in the community and living in their own home.
