The topic to be discussed is the ‘Psychosocial experiences of African American patients with type 2 diabetes: An application of the self-regulatory model’. This presentation will occur in the Addressing Health Disparities Session.

In this research presentation, Dr. Shiyanbola will discuss findings from six focus groups conducted among African American/Black patients with type 2 diabetes. This study examined African American/Black beliefs about type 2 diabetes and explored their perceptions of the sociocultural factors that influence patient beliefs.
