Lauren joined the Kwon Research Group in the fall of 2017 after graduating from Clemson University with a BS in materials science & engineering. Prior to joining the group, Lauren conducted undergraduate research on star copolymers for biomedical applications and interned with a small biotech company focusing on the clinical development of polymeric micellar anti-cancer formulations.
Her current research is focused on the development, characterization, and scale-up of polymeric nano-assemblies containing ester prodrugs of taxanes to improve drug delivery to solid tumors. After graduation, Lauren hopes to have a career in the pharmaceutical industry and continue her efforts to create safer, more efficacious alternatives to current cancer treatments. When not in lab, Lauren can be found throwing a frisbee, reading a good book, playing with her dog, or attending a Badger sporting event.
