Kaila is a PhD student in the Hong Research Group. Her focus is on the development of functional gene delivery using exosome-dendrimer hybrid nanoparticles for immunotherapy. She is involved in studies utilizing new immunotherapy targets such as PD-L1, to develop dendrimer-based therapeutics to improve current cancer therapies. In 2018, Kaila graduated from San Francisco State University with a BS in biochemistry.
