Jiyoon Bu, PhD

Assistant Professor, Inha University

Dr. Bu is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Hong Research Group. His research focus includes:

  • The development of a multi-modal liquid biopsy system based on the isolation and analysis of circulating tumor cells (CTCs), exosomes, and cell-free DNA (cfDNA)
  • The synthesis of nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems for cancer immunotherapy

More specifically, during his BS and PhD studies at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), he was involved in designing, fabricating, and testing more than 10 microfluidic biosensor prototypes for cancer diagnosis and treatment monitoring. His expertise in liquid biopsy was further expanded with the postdoctoral training in the Hong Research Group, which subsequently provided a strong design rationale for the development of nanopolymer-based, high-sensitive liquid biopsy assays. Jiyoon is also involved in designing and synthesizing the polymeric nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery, which include nano-drugs for immune checkpoint blockade and chemo/gene co-therapeutics.
