Development of an exosome-based liquid biopsy accepted for publication

Our recent development of an exosome-based liquid biopsy has been accepted for publication by Nano Letters. “Immunoavidity-based capture of tumor exosomes using poly(amidoamine) dendrimer surfaces” was written by Mike, Ashita, Jiyoon, Jack, and Dr. Hong in collaboration with Dr. Kimple.

“Surface engineering for efficient capture of circulating tumor cells in renal cell carcinoma: From nanoscale analysis to clinical application” paper is published

Our paper entitled “Surface engineering for efficient capture of circulating tumor cells in renal cell carcinoma: From nanoscale analysis to clinical application” is published in Biosensors and Bioelectronics. The research was conducted by Jiyoon, Ashita, Luke, Mike, Woo-jin, and Dr. Hong, in addition to collaborators at Duke University and University of North Carolina.

Hong lab awarded funding from UW-Madison’s Discovery to Product (D2P) SEED program

The Hong lab is one of six research groups to be awarded funding from UW-Madison’s Discovery to Product (D2P) SEED program. The new funding will help to bring a new liquid biopsy technology for exosomes from the lab to market.

Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS) accepts paper

Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS) accepts our paper entitled “Nanoparticle Conjugation Stabilizes and Multimerizes β-Hairpin Peptides to Effectively Target PD-1/PD-L1 β-Sheet-Rich Interfaces” for publication! The authors are Woo-jin, Jiyoon, Yanxiao, Adam, Ashita, Dr. Kral and Dr. Hong. Congratulations!

Recent graduate Jason Bugno receives outstanding thesis award from UIC

We would like to congratulate our recent graduate Jason Bugno for being selected as the winner of outstanding thesis award from UIC this year. He is one of the only 5 awardees selected from all PhD graduates of the entire campus of the year! It is also a great honor to the entire group, producing two outstanding thesis awardees over the years. The first one was Yang Yang who currently serves as Staff Reviewer/Scientist at FDA.

Dr. Hao-jui Hsu accepts position with Pfizer

Dr. Hao-jui Hsu, our former PhD student, has recently accepted a position offer from Pfizer where he will join as a Senior Scientist in July.  Upon graduation, Dr. Hsu has spent two years at FDA as a postdoc. Congratulations!
