Poster: Transdisciplinary Approaches for Supporting Psychedelic Experiences (presenter: Dr. Kwasi Adusei)

Join us for the “Psychedelic Pasts, Presents, & Futures” Borghesi-Mellon Workshop “Transdisciplinary Approaches for Supporting Psychedelic Experiences” double header featuring Dr. Kwasi Adusei on Wednesday, October 26th! Both events will take place in Helen C. White 6191, and Dr. Adusei’s lecture will be broadcast via Zoom as well  (Register at https://go.wisc.edu/7aufbn).

Dr. Kwasi Adusei, DNP, PMHNP, is a service oriented, curious Ghanaian native passionate about the intersections of community, well-being, and technology. He has a vision for a future driven by inner and outer restoration and how they converge to alter the maladaptive systems of our current world. As an educator and community organizer, he is informed by his experience with the war on drugs and community mental health, both as a patient and a clinician. He is also psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, co-founder of the Psychedelic Society of Western New York, and led the development of a grassroots psychedelic harm reduction organization called the Sanctuary Project.

Dr. Adusei’s hybrid lecture will encourage the audience to expand our mantra of preparing for psychedelic experiences from “set and setting” to “set and setting and support,” and elaborate on all that means in regard to community, equity, and internal resourcing. A reading group will be convened before the roundtable. Please be in touch with Amanda Pratt (apratt4@wisc.edu) if interested in attending.

This will be a great way to kick off the UW-Madison Psychedelic Symposium taking place on campus October 27th-28th.

The Borghesi-Mellon program is sponsored by the UW Center of the Humanities: “Since 2000, the Center’s Workshops in the Humanities have provided an opportunity for students and faculty to work together outside of the classroom, in working groups centered on an interdisciplinary topic, broadly conceived, drawn from any period, field, or method of research in the humanities…the Workshops have led to conferences, books, teaching innovations, and the creation of long-term research centers and projects.”
