PhD Thesis Defense: Stephanie M. Resendiz

June 19, 2026

Stephanie M. Resendiz, HSRP graduate student (Chui SAMS Lab), will be defending her PhD research thesis:

RxVIDA: A Co-Designed Patient Education Tool to Enhance Medication Knowledge and Self-Efficacy for Spanish-Speaking Patients in Rural Wisconsin

What if better health could start with clearer, more culturally meaningful information? This project explores how Spanish-speaking patients with chronic conditions in rural Wisconsin experience and understand their medications, and the barriers they face. By working directly with patients and clinic staff to co-create RxVIDA, a short video-based education tool designed to make medication information easier to understand and more relevant to everyday life. Through interviews, collaboration, and real-world testing, this study asks a simple but powerful question: can the right kind of information change how people manage their health? Join this presentation to learn what was discovered, how the tool was built, and what it could mean for improving care in underserved communities.
