Tom McCourt is the Chief Executive Officer of Ironwood Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Boston, Massachusetts. Over the course of Mr. McCourt’s career, he contributed significantly to the launch and marketing of pharmaceutical products like ZELNORM(tm), PRILOSEC(r) and NEXIUM(r), and worked in senior roles at Amgen Inc., Novartis AG, and Astra Merck Inc. prior to joining Ironwood. Mr. McCourt received his degree in pharmacy from UW–Madison, and is a member of the School of Pharmacy Board of Visitors.

The Pharmacology and Toxicology undergraduate program at the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Pharmacy features an interdisciplinary, biomedically-rich, human-health focused curriculum that prepares students for scientific careers as well as for graduate work or study in health professional programs.

Allison Gardner, PhD, CHCP, is the Senior Vice President of Educational Strategy and Content at Med-IQ, a healthcare improvement organization and accredited provider of continuing education in the health professions. In this role, Allison draws upon 15 years of experience in content development, instructional design, and outcomes assessment to oversee the creation of clinical and risk management initiatives that support improvements in patient safety and healthcare quality. She is a frequent presenter at clinical and education conferences and co-author of 14 articles published in peer-reviewed journals. In addition, she is an elected member of the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions.
Allison received a Bachelors of Science degree in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1999, and a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health in 2006. Her doctoral work focused on post-fertilization signal transduction in mammalian eggs. Prior to joining Med-IQ in 2009, she was an adjunct faculty in the science and math department of Columbia College Chicago and worked in the diagnostics division of Abbott Laboratories. She lives in Skokie, Illinois with her husband, three children, and very energetic cat.
