Tuition is determined by the UW System Board of Regents, based on budgets approved by the Wisconsin governor and legislature. The Madison Budget Office determines the rates for each academic program at UW‒Madison.
If you are looking for future tuition rates, note that tuition is tied to the timing of state budget approval. The Madison Budget Office is typically able to publish rates for the upcoming Fall and Spring semesters in early August. It is best to plan for tuition increases.
Fees are simply charges, in addition to tuition, assessed to all students for student services, activities, programs, and facilities that support the mission of University of Wisconsin System institutions, including UW–Madison.
