Global Health Coursework

The School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) Office of Global Health offers several field courses during the summer, which are administered by International Academic Programs (IAP). These courses are well-suited for students completing their first or second year of the curriculum. All of the summer field courses require pre-trip coursework.

Seminar in Global Health Pharmacy (728-673)
This 1-credit course is offered every spring semester and is open to any School of Pharmacy student interested in in-depth study of selected topics in global health pharmacy.

Online asynchronous Global Health Courses

While online courses that are a part of the Global Health Certificate are prioritized for Global Health Certificate students, the courses are also open to non-certificate PharmD and graduate students as space allows.

The five online global health courses are:

• PUBLHLTH 710: Introduction to Global Health: History, Current Issues, and Health Statistics (2 cr)
• PUBLHLTH 711: Global Public Health and Healthcare Systems: Organizations, Governance, Financing, and Workforce (2 cr)
• PUBLHLTH 712: Global Health: Infectious Diseases, One Health, and Prevention Strategies (2 cr)
• PUBLHLTH 713: Global Health: Non-communicable Diseases, Poverty, Environmental Health, and Food Security (2 cr)
• PUBLHLTH 714: Global Health Field Work Fundamentals: Engagement, Ethics, Policy, and Methods (2 cr)
