On commencement weekend, the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Pharmacy hosted a series of events to celebrate the incredible achievements of the School’s Class of 2024, including the Pharmacology and Toxicology bachelor’s degree program, PharmD, Health System Pharmacy Administration master’s degree, Health Systems Research in Pharmacy PhD, and Pharmaceutical Sciences master’s and PhD graduates.

PharmD Graduation Awards Breakfast

The first event of the weekend — on Friday, May, 10 at the Pyle Center — celebrated PharmD students who went above and beyond during pharmacy school, earning awards for their clinical communication, mentoring, public health contributions, and more, handed out by pharmacy leaders and School of Pharmacy alumni, including Brett Eberle (BS ’98) and Kate Hartkopf (PharmD ’08). PharmD & Health System Pharmacy Administration MS Hooding Ceremony

On Friday, May 10, at the Memorial Union, the School of Pharmacy honored the PharmD and Health System Pharmacy Administration master’s degree graduates in a ceremony featuring alumna Susan Sutter (BS ’78), former owner of Marshland Pharmacies, who delivered the keynote address, as well as Pharmacy Alumni Association President Heather Spatchek (PharmD ’18) and Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin President Hannet Tibagwa Ambord (MS ’00), and Class of 2024 graduates Maria Hill (PharmD ’24) and Blake Hicks (MS ’24). The ceremony also celebrated two of the School’s top preceptors: Jenny Moran (BS ’88), with the School’s Larry Boh Clinical Instructor Excellence Award, and Mary Mably, with the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Master Preceptor Award. 

Graduate Studies Hooding and Recognition Ceremony

For the first year, the School of Pharmacy’s Health Services Research in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences graduate programs held their very own Hooding and Recognition Ceremony — a move inspired by the graduates themselves and the fast growth of the School’s new master’s degree programs in Applied Drug Development and Psychoactive Pharmaceutical Investigation. The ceremony on Friday, May 10, at the Pyle Center featured keynote speaker CEO of Concert Pharmaceuticals Roger Tung (PhD ’87), Pharmacy Alumni Association President Heather Spatchek (PharmD ’18), and graduate speakers Mika Hess (MS ’24) and Jason Chladek (PhD ’24).

Before the UW–Madison Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 11, the School’s Pharmacology and Toxicology program held a breakfast at the Carson Gulley Center to commemorate the achievements of the Class of 2024, featuring keynote speaker and 2024 PharmTox Alum of the Year John Davis (BS ’90) and graduate Isabella Jones (BS ’24).
