Laurel Legenza, UW-Madison Comparative Health System Global Pharmacy Fellow, presented her research highlighting designing and implementation of an antimicrobial stewardship checklist for Clostridium difficile infection in South Africa at the 20th annual Making A Difference in Infectious Diseases (MAD-ID) Meeting. The checklist was designed to improve the identification and treatment of Clostridium difficile infection in South Africa. The project identified a significant risk in in-hospital mortality associated with a positive Clostridium difficile test result. Learn more about the baseline research.

Legenza received a travel grant from MAD-ID to attend and present her work. The conference was held May 10-13^th in Orlando, Fla. MAD-ID is a non-profit entity dedicated to providing continuing professional education in the area of infectious diseases pharmacotherapy and antimicrobial stewardship.
