Alissa Hofer, a fourth year Doctor of Pharmacy student, was the lead author in a study exploring pharmacists’ role in addressing the opioid epidemic. Hofer collaborated with addiction medicine experts in the UW Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (UW DFMCH). The study was published in the July/August 2016 issue of the Journal of the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin. UW DFMCH is one of the oldest family medicine departments in the nation, with origins dating back to 1970, when family medicine was first designated as a medical specialty. Read more.
