Paria Sanaty Zadeh, a third year pharmacy student, was awarded a 2016 APhA Foundation scholarship in recognition of her exceptional demonstration of leadership skills and academics through active involvement in the APhA Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) Chapters. Applicants are evaluated on their potential to become leaders for the profession of pharmacy, as demonstrated by exceptional leadership and involvement in school and community activities, academic performance, and a commitment to the future of pharmacy. These students help shape the future of the profession while managing the demands of a full-time pharmacy curriculum.
In addition to involvement in various leadership roles within professional pharmacy organizations at her chapter, Zadeh has served the Academy through regional and national activities such as the APhA-ASP National Patient Counseling Competition, PharmFlix, and Policy. Paria is an active member of the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin, American College of Clinical Pharmacy, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, as well as the Interprofessional Health Council and Academic Assessment Committee within her school. She completed the VALOR internship at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center and will be pursuing the Froedtert Medical Center Residency Track APPE Program in her final year of pharmacy school. Prior to entering pharmacy school, Zadeh received a Bachelor of Science degree in Neurobiology and her professional goals are to pursue a career in clinical pharmacy with a focus on academia and health-system administration.

She was formally recognized at the APhA Foundation Contributors’ Breakfast and the APhA-ASP Opening General Session during the 2016 APhA Annual Meeting and Exposition held March 4-7 in Baltimore, Md.
