To better reflect efforts to develop, conduct, and evaluate education programs to meet the
continuing professional development needs of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and scientists in the pharmaceutical industry, Extension Services in Pharmacy changed its name to the Division of Pharmacy Professional Development.
The change was made in the fall 2013 to increase visibility of the faculty and their experiences in adult education programming, including the planning, development, administration, evaluation, and research associated with continuing education programming/professional development. Additionally, the name change makes the Division of Pharmacy Professional Development more identifiable with practicing pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and scientists in the pharmaceutical industry.
The Division of Pharmacy Professional Development works closely with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and scientists within the pharmaceutical industry to develop programs that:
- provide outreach opportunities for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to assist them with their professional development/continuing education needs, and
- provide professional development through training and post-graduate education for research and production personnel within the pharmaceutical industry.
