Campus is abuzz and so too is Rennebohm Hall as faculty, staff, and fellow students welcome 143 Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students, 23 Pharmacology-Toxicology (PharmTox) undergraduates, and 28 individuals pursuing graduate degrees.

The majority of the PharmD class hails from Wisconsin and Minnesota, with additional representation from the north, south, east, and west regions of the U.S. The program has also drawn an international contingent with students from South Korea, China, Indonesia, France, Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan. Thirty two percent of the class of 2021 are first generation college students.

Among only a handful of institutions who offer the PharmTox BS degree, Wisconsin’s program remains rigorous and competitive. All of the incoming class have completed their pre-PharmTox coursework at UW-Madison.

The 28 students embarking on a graduate degree is an historic number. With degree areas ranging from genetics and biomedical engineering to neuroscience and chemistry, seventeen students will join the pharmaceutical sciences program. Seven individuals plan to pursue the Social & Administrative Sciences MS or PhD with one individual aligned to be the school’s first dually enrolled PharmD-MS student. In addition, there are four students beginning the MS Health System Pharmacy Administration/2-year residency program. The graduate cohort has robust geographic representation from the U.S. and around the globe elevating the diversity and strength of these advanced degree opportunities.
