School receives $500,000 gift from F. Dohmen Company

Marking its 150th anniversary, the F. Dohmen Co. Foundation will contribute $500,000 to the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy for graduate support in the pharmaceutical sciences and support of a Dean’s Level scholarship for PharmD students.

The graduate support fund will assist the school’s Pharmaceutical Sciences Division in recruiting and retaining outstanding graduate students and to strengthen the ability of these students who are working with faculty to advance cutting-edge research in the Division of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy.

The Dean’s Level scholarship honors the history and legacy of the F. Dohmen Company’s contributions to pharmacy practice and to the health care industry in Wisconsin. The full tuition scholarship will assist students enrolled in the PharmD program whose personal and family resources are not adequate to cover the costs of a Pharmacy education.

In addition to the gift to the School of Pharmacy, the F. Dohmen Co. Foundation will contribute $250,000 to the Wisconsin Historical Society. The F. Dohmen Co. was founded in 1858 as a pharmacy wholesale business in Milwaukee by German immigrant Frederick Dohmen, and it is now in its fifth generation as a family-owned business.
