On April 17, 2014, Dean Jeanette Roberts had the unique opportunity to be present at the State Capitol when Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker signed Senate Bill 251 into law. Several elements of the legislation help improve practice in long-term care facilities. The bill also states that a licensed pharmacist may perform any patient care service that is delegated to the pharmacist by a licensed physician, strengthening the physician-pharmacist collaborative practice. This legislation is a step in the right direction for Wisconsin reaching its goal of having pharmacists formally recognized as health care providers.
