Grant supports first large study for bacterial infections

Warren Rose, assistant professor (CHS) in the Pharmacy Practice Division, has been awarded funding from Cubist Pharmaceutics, Inc. for a clinical study of a unique combination of antibiotics for the treatment of deep-seated Gram-positive infections.

These bacterial infections are often complicated by long durations of antibiotics and poor outcomes, and experience with new therapies is limited. This grant will provide an in-depth analysis of the clinical and microbiological outcomes with combination antibiotics for these infections, and is the first clinical trial in a large series of patients.
