The Barkholtz Toxicology Laboratory focuses on detecting drugs of abuse in biological matrices and understanding their pharmacology in humans. We take an interdisciplinary approach to developing detection methods and curating data streams that inform public health.

The Barkholtz Toxicology Laboratory’s mission is to improve public safety and public health through transparency, standardization, and data analytics. Specifically, our work focuses on developing novel drug of abuse detection strategies and understanding the pharmacology of these compounds in humans. We take an interdisciplinary approach to solving real-world problems with direct impact on public safety and health.

The Barkholtz Toxicology Laboratory aims to achieve forensic toxicology innovation through transparency, standardization, and data analytics. To do so, we take an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to our research questions. The lab includes diverse people, skill sets, and projects including analytical chemistry, forensic toxicology, and clinical research.
