El Camino Health will be hosting virtual open house sessions on Thursday, November 14th from 4pm to 5:30pm PST and Monday, December 2nd from 4pm to 5pm PST.

El Camino Health provides a personalized healthcare experience at two non-profit acute care hospitals in Los Gatos and Mountain View and at primary care, multi-specialty care, and urgent care locations across Santa Clara County in California. Our key medical specialties include heart and vascular, cancer and lifestyle medicine.

El Camino Health’s one-year postgraduate (PGY1) Pharmacy Practice Residency is designed to develop leadership skills and provide residents with training and experience in various areas of clinical practice, such as inpatient and outpatient oncology, pain management, and much more.

Methodist Hospital PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program is hosting a Virtual Open House on Tuesday, December 3rdanytime between 6-7:30 pm CST. All are welcome to attend using this Microsoft Teams link for a relaxed, minimal pressure opportunity to learn more about the program, talk to  residents or hospital leadership, or take a virtual tour of the hospital. Students can feel free to join and leave the meeting anytime during the session.

About Methodist Hospital: Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital is a bustling 426-bed, Level III Trauma center located in St. Louis Park, a first ring suburb of Minneapolis, MN. Methodist Hospital is recognized as an area leader in cancer care, cardiovascular services, infectious disease/antimicrobial stewardship, anticoagulation, and neuro-rehabilitation medicine. Our hospital cares for over 30,000 patients a year and our emergency medicine department sees over 50,000 patients in the EC annually.

About the program: Our PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program offers rotations in infectious disease, emergency medicine, cardiology, oncology, critical care, internal medicine, and learner education/precepting. We are also able to offer a teaching certificate, publication opportunities, and academic teaching opportunities at the University of Minnesota for those who are interested.

Ascension Via Christi Hospitals is an acute care, tertiary community teaching center, as well as a Level I Trauma Center located in Wichita, Kansas. Ascension Via Christi is comprised of three acute care hospitals, a rehabilitation hospital, and 14 primary care and specialty clinic locations.
Residents have the opportunity to gain professional experiences and become well-rounded pharmacists through rotations such as internal medicine, infectious diseases, behavioral health, oncology, ambulatory care, and pediatrics. Additionally, Ascension Via Christi offers a variety of rotations related to critical care including emergency medicine, surgical, burn, cardiothoracic, cardiac, and the medical intensive care units.

The Virtual Showcase gives students the opportunity to meet residents, preceptors, and the residency program director and allows for students to ask questions and gain insight into our program.

The Tomah VA Pharmacy Service provides progressive clinical services to patients across western Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota between the medical center located in Tomah, WI and four Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) located throughout western and central Wisconsin. Clinical Pharmacist Practitioners operate under a scope of practice to manage various disease states in different practice areas. The Tomah VAMC is situated on a 173-acre campus and has a 10-bed acute medicine unit, 10-bed acute psychiatric unit, 24-bed Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP), 110-bed Community Living Center (CLC), and cares for approximately 26,000 Veterans. The Tomah VAMC maintains strong relationships with the area military bases (Fort McCoy, Volk Field). The Tomah VA is a Flagship site for the Whole Health Initiative, focusing on holistic treatment of each patient as an individual.

The Tomah VA residency offers a variety of learning experiences including the following required rotations:  Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT), Outpatient Mental Health Clinic, Outpatient Pain Clinic, Home Based Primary Care (HBPC), Outpatient Cardiology Clinic, and CLC/Hospice.  Longitudinal rotations include Pharmacy Administration, Informatics/Pharmacoeconomics, Staffing, Patient Care, and the year-long residency project.

The Virtual Residency Showcase is a second opportunity to interact with recruiting programs if you did not get a chance to connect with them at Midyear. Registration is free to anyone looking for a residency in 2025.     The pharmacy residents of SSM Health Monroe Clinic are hosting 3 different 1-hour long virtual open house sessions during November and December.  Please join them for a virtual open house to learn more about the programs (PGY1 and PGY2), elective choices, culture of the clinic, etc. Please use the registration form to sign up and indicate which session you plan to attend.     SSM Health Monroe Clinic is located in Monroe, Wisconsin, which is a rural town about 40 miles south of Madison. It serves a large geographical area spanning WI and IL.

    • The PGY1 pharmacy residency emphasizes ambulatory care in a progressive, independent, pharmacist-led clinic. The pharmacotherapists are credentialed members of the healthcare team who work under a broad collaborative practice agreements that allow them to manage their patient’s chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, heart failure, anticoagulation, and more! The residency also includes experiences in hospital medicine, administration, and many elective choices>
    • The PGY2 ambulatory care pharmacy residency allows residents to manage independent practice at a branch clinic site in Freeport, Illinois about 26 miles south of Monroe. Throughout the year, the resident will gain experience practicing independently in Freeport and Monroe, precept PGY1 residents, and have exposure to several leadership and administrative duties.

    The UNC Medical Center’s combined PGY-1/2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership residency program with Master of Science will be hosting three informational sessions on the following dates:

    October 29, 2024 – Program Overview, Meet the RPD and RPCs

    November 18, 2024 – Meet the Alumni

    December 19, 2024 – Resident Only Q&A (post-Midyear)

    These sessions will provide detailed insights into our residency program, which is complemented by a fully funded Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a specialization in Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership. Additionally, the sessions include quality time with our program director, coordinators, alumni, and current residents, where we’ll be answering any questions that any prospective students may have about our program.
