Engage award brings technology to the classroom

Beth Martin, assistant professor (CHS) in the Pharmacy Practice Division, and Lauren Shawl, instructional technology consultant from the School of Pharmacy, were featured in an article entitled “Crash course in cyber collaboration” in a recent issue of Computing@UW.

The article highlights Martin creating and teaching a new hybrid course designed for experiential learning, and working with Shawl to develop tools via Learn@UW, wikis, Moodle and Drupal. The Engage award for technology-enhanced collaborative group work provided Martin with funding, tools, and support from a pharmacy consultant and an academic technology consultant.

Computing@UW is produced by the Division of Information Technology and is a regular insert in Wisconsin Week, the bi-monthly campus newspaper for faculty and staff.
