Olayinka Shiyanbola, assistant professor in the Social and Administrative Sciences Division, is among the invited presenters for the 8th Patient Adherence and Access Summit to be held in Philadelphia in March.
Shiyanbola and colleague Elizabeth Unni, assistant professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, Roseman University of Health Sciences, Utah School of Pharmacy will present “Understand the Role and Importance of Health Literacy in Adherence Intervention Programs,” specifically addressing:
• Analyzing how health literacy can impact a patient’s adherence, outcome and health
• Discussing the mechanisms of the interrelationships between health literacy, patient beliefs and adherence, and how to analyze problem areas in these relationships
• Assessing the need to incorporate health literacy into adherence improvement programs and how to integrate the two seamlessly
The focus of the 2017 summit focus is enhanced patient education and engagement for improved health outcomes across all industry sectors and brings together leading industry innovators to connect and discuss the latest trends and best practices in medication adherence, patient engagement, health literacy and partnerships with patient advocacy groups.
