Joe Zorek, assistant professor (CHS) in the Pharmacy Practice Division, was the featured guest for a journal club webinar series organized by the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education. The hour-long interview highlighted the ongoing development of the SPICE instrument, which Zorek is leading.
SPICE is a validated instrument that was originally developed to assess medical and pharmacy students’ perceptions of interprofessional practice and education. The instrument consists of subscales measuring interprofessional teamwork and team-based practice, roles/responsibilities for collaborative practice and patient outcomes from collaborative practice.
The National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education leads, coordinates and studies the advancement of collaborative, team-based health professions education and patient care as an efficient model for improving quality, outcomes and cost.
