The research contributions of 2013 PharmDgraduates, Heather Hestekin and Tristan O’Driscoll is highlighted on the working papers section of the World Health Organization (WHO) web site.

Hestekin and O’Driscoll assisted with writing a paper measuring prevalence and risk factors for fall-related injury in older adults in low- and middle-income countries: Results from WHO’s Study on global AGEing and adult health (SAGE) Wave 1. Since their rotation in Australia, the scope of the paper has been expanded and once published it will include Hestekin and O’Driscoll as authors.

This work was undertaken as part of University of Wisconsin-Madison/World Health Organization (WHO) internships for 2013 PharmD candidates. SAGE is supported by the Division of Behavioral and Social Research of the US National Institute on Aging through Interagency Agreements with WHO.

Post-graduation, Hestekin and O’Driscoll are serving as Post Graduation Year 1 pharmacy residents– Hestekin at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center, orange, Calif. and O’Driscoll at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, Ill.
