Leadership Development Track

Formed during the 2015-2016 academic school year, the Leadership Development Track (or LDT for short) is a composite of activities identified through Phi Lambda Sigma, the School of Pharmacy and the profession of pharmacy as a way to hone individuals’ leadership goals and foster leadership development within the student body. PLS will be holding a ceremony at the end of the year to celebrate those who complete the LDT.

Below are the seven (7) requirements for the Leadership Development Track.

  1. Attend one professional conference per year:
    1. PSW Annual
    2. PSW Legislative Day
    3. PSW Educational Conference
    4. APhA Annual
    5. ASHP Annual or Mid-Year
    6. ACCP Annual
    7. MRM
    8. Other (with approval)
  1. Attend 2019 Kremer’s Lecture (Date TBD-March/April)
  2. Complete the Career Fair Activity 2018
    1. Six business cards from booth holders
    2. One page reflection due by the end of winter break
  3. Attend one breakout session per semester:
    1. We will offer at least 3 breakout sessions per semester:
    2. A list of breakout session topics and dates are listed below
    3. Interested in leading a breakout session and getting credit for it? Contact us!
  4. Attend three breakfast talks/residency club meetings per semester:
    1. You can complete 3 breakfast talks or 3 residency club meetings or a combination of the two
  5. Attend one inter-professional event per year:
    1. Inter-professional health summit
    2. IPHC case competition
    3. MEDiC Noon-Talks (Do not have to be trained in MEDiC to attend)
      1. MEDiC Shifts DO NOT count
    4.  Interprofessional Case Study (Fall Mini Summit)
    5. Other events as they come up during the year- watch for reminder emails or send us an email if they find something you are interested in!
  6. One Required Elective per year
    1. Attending 1 additional breakout session
    2. Attending 1 additional residency club or breakfast talk
    3. Attending 1 additional inter-professional event
    4. Present a poster at a meeting/conference
    5. Lead a breakout session
    6. ASHP counseling event
    7. ACCP pharmacotherapy competition

Breakfast Talks

  • Thursday, September 20th, 7:45-8:45 AM in Rennebohm room 1116. Dr. Ellina Seckel, Associate Chief, Ambulatory & Specialty Care at the Madison VA will be joining us.  
  • Friday, November 16th, 7:45-8:45 AM in Rennebohm room 2339. Dr. Michelle Farrell, owner of Boscobel Pharmacy will be joining us.  
  • Thursday, November 29th, 7:45-8:45 AM in Rennebohm room 2339.  Dr. Sheila Aton, a psychiatric pharmacist at UW Health, will be joining us.  

Breakout Sessions

  • Tuesday, September 18th, 5:00-6:00 PM in Rennebohm room 2002.  We will be holding a DPH-4 panel on selecting IPPEs/APPEs and how to have successful communication with your preceptor.  

  • Tuesday, October 23rd, 12:00-1:00 PM in Rennebohm room 2336.  We will be discussing how to get the most out of the career fair.  

  • Tuesday, November 20th, 12:00-1:00 PM in Rennebohm room 2336.  We will be talking about how to maintain positivity and re-energizing yourself during pharmacy school.    

  •  Tuesday, December 4th, 12:00-1:00 PM in Rennebohm room 2336.  We will be talking about how to power through finals with study and relaxation techniques.  

Residency Clubs

  • Tuesday, September 25th, 5:00-6:00 PM.  Room TBD.  Topic: General Information/ Q&A on pharmacy residencies.  
  • Monday, October 22nd, 5:30-6:15 PM.  Rennebohm room 1116.  Dr. Michael Nagy, from The MCW Pharmacy School, will be talking about what residency programs look for in an applicant 
  • Wednesday, December 5th , 5:00-5:30 PM.  Rennebohm room 1116.  Dr. Mara Kieser will be discussing the Community Residency Program.
