    • Reason for interest in global health: I am very interested in learning about other cultures and would like my future practice to involve improving health disparities both within the US and abroad. Studying through the global health certificate has allowed me to add a diverse perspective to the pharmacy curriculum. There is so much to learn about the world and global health provides such an interesting lens.
  • LaRae Bagnall

    • Reason for interest in global health: I am interested in global health to learn about new cultures and other countries’ health systems compared to the US.

  • Reason for interest in global health: When I participated in a mission trip to Guatemala, I promised myself that I would participate in medical missions locally and internationally throughout my lifetime

Student Senate Representative: Alyson Prom

  • Reason for interest in global health: With how interconnected our world is, healthcare is a constant human need. I think gathering different perspectives and learning more about global health can really enhance how we practice pharmacy locally and help us grow as professionals. 

Global Health Liaison: Jenna Ciesielski

  • Countries traveled to: Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Cambodia, Thailand
  • Reason for interest in global health: I enjoy learning about how other countries and cultures approach healthcare- I think there is a lot we can learn from each other.

  • Reason for interest in global health: I want to do an international APPE, and would like to continue traveling for medical reasons.

  • Rachel Urbas 
    • Year: DPH-3
    • Countries traveled to: Just the US, hopefully that will change soon! Japan is on the top of my list
    • Reason for interest in global health: I read a book called “Mountains Beyond Mountains” a few years ago that is about a physician’s efforts to improve the health of the poor in other countries, and it really inspired me to learn more and get more involved in the health of other countries.
  • Kayla Marchese

    • Countries traveled to: Costa Rica, Iceland, Nicaragua, Italy, Thailand, Cambodia
    • Reason for interest in global health: To me, global health means working with local populations here in Wisconsin, By learning about global health, I hope to adapt to all patient’s needs, beliefs, and cultures.

    • Reason for interest in global health: As a student who did not born in America, it is very interesting to know how other countries run their health system. Also, I want to connect with my patients more by adopting their cultures.
