  • Reason for interest in global health: I am very interested in learning about other cultures and would like my future practice to involve improving health disparities both within the US and abroad. Studying through the global health certificate has allowed me to add a diverse perspective to the pharmacy curriculum. There is so much to learn about the world and global health provides such an interesting lens.

Rachel Urbas

  • Countries traveled to: Just the US, hopefully that will change soon!
  • Reason for interest in global health: I read a book called “Mountains Beyond Mountains” a few years ago that is about a physician’s efforts to improve the health of the poor in other countries, and it really inspired me to learn more and get more involved in the health of other countries.

Kayla Marchese

  • Countries traveled to: Italy, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Iceland
  • Reason for interest in global health: I am interested in learning about different health care systems and how patients across the world view health and medicine. I hope to transfer my global knowledge to my local patients and provide the best possible care.

Spanish Roundtable/Trip Coordinator: Alyson Prom

  • Reason for interest in global health: I think there is a lot of value in learning about areas and cultures other than our own! From a health perspective, I believe we are all interconnected and can have an important impact as future health care professionals.
