Nearly 150 graduates of the School of Pharmacy celebrated the milestone with School events including an Awards Celebration, Hooding Ceremony, and Graduation Breakfast on Friday and Saturday, May 12 and 13. The UW-Madison commencement ceremonies were held at the Kohl Center on Friday night for doctoral and medical professional graduates and continued Saturday at Camp Randall with bachelor’s, master’s and law graduates.

Twenty three students received awards for their academic performance, community service, or leadership at the Awards Celebration prior to the Hooding Ceremony. The Hooding Ceremony allowed the PharmD, MS and PhD students, their families and friends to share the accomplishment of a professional or graduate degree with the pharmacy community of faculty, staff, and alumni. Held in Varsity Hall at Union South, the ceremony included congratulatory remarks from Dean Swanson, a keynote address by alumna Nancy Gilbride, the presentation of the Larry Boh Clinical Instructor Excellence Award to Rani Raju, 2017 AACP Master Preceptor Award to Jeffrey Fish, Corey Lester, graduate student speaker, Teresa Romano, PharmD speaker, and a welcome to the profession including the reciting of the Oath of a Pharmacist by Michelle Farrell, Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin president and representative of the Pharmacy Alumni Association and Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin. Following the ceremony, attendees enjoyed a reception on the patio prior to heading to the Kohl Center.

The Pharmacology & Toxicology bachelor of science graduates started Saturday with a breakfast at Camp Randall prior to heading into the stadium for the commencement ceremony.
