Barry Gidal, professor (CHS) and Chair, Pharmacy Practice Division, was among the inaugural group of individuals to receive the Fellow of the American Epilepsy Society (FAES) credential. The FAES credential is peer based through nomination and recognition of an individual’s record of service to the Society, but also demonstrates professional accomplishment in the areas of scholarship, clinical practice, and leadership within the epilepsy community. Fellows were formally recognized at the Annual Meeting in December in Houston, Tex. and may use the FAES designation online and in printed materials. Gidal has a clinical practice focusing on the pharmaceutical care to patients with epilepsy. His research interests are pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and the metabolic effects of anticonvulsant medications.
