Five pharm. sci. grad students earn prestigious AFPE fellowships

Pharmaceutical Sciences PhD students Bruce Bagley, Grant Buchanan, Richard Gantt, Kyle Kleinbeck, and Kenneth Simmons have been awarded a Pre-Doctoral Fellowship in the Pharmaceutical Sciences by the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (AFPE) for the 2010-11 academic year.

For Buchanan and Gantt, these are renewals of similar fellowships awarded last year; for the remaining three students, the awards are new.

Bagley, originally from Mukwanago, Wisconsin, began his graduate work in 2008 under the mentoring of Lara Collier (Drug Action).

Buchanan, from Midland, Texas, began graduate study in 2006 in the laboratory of Richard Hsung (Drug Discovery).

Gantt, from Marietta, Georgia, is in his fourth year of graduate school and studies in the laboratory of Jon Thorson (Drug Discovery).

Kleinbeck, from Waukesha, is in his third year of graduate study, working in the laboratory of W. John Kao (Drug Delivery).

Simmons is in his third year of graduate school–and studies under the dual mentorship of Sandro Mecozzi and Ralph Albrecht (Drug Delivery/Drug Discovery).
