Carolyn Brown, PhD, FAPhA

Professor of Health Outcomes and Pharmacy Practice, University of Texas at Austin - College of Pharmacy

Dr. Brown is the Burlage Centennial Professor of Health Outcomes at the University of Texas at Austin – College of Pharmacy. Her research is focused on understanding cultural and social elements that may impact quality of care and therapeutic outcomes of patients with chronic illnesses, particularly ethnic minority patients who experience a disproportionate burden of poor health. Her experiences lie within the topics on medication use and adherence, health behavior/health disparities, and integrative practice and education.

Dr. Brown is a collaborator in the lab project focused on the design of a culturally adapted measurement tool to assess illness perceptions in African Americans with type 2 diabetes.
