Presenting: Application of click chemistry: from PET to cancer immunotherapy

“Click Chemistry” is a term that was coined by K. Barry Sharpless in 2001 to describe reactions that are high yielding, wide in scope, create only byproducts that can be removed without chromatography, are stereospecific, simple to perform, and can be conducted in easily removable or benign solvents. Click reactions have found far-reaching applications to drug discovery and biomedicine.

In this talk, I will discuss our new strategies based on SuFEx click chemistry for the construction of new probes for PET imaging of tumors in xenograft tumor models. I will also discuss techniques that are based on click-like chemoenzymatic transformations for editing cell-surface glycans to boost the efficacy of cell-based immunotherapy.
