Remembering Adam Nickel - Scholarship

Adam Nickel running a marathon.Adam Alexander Nickel, a 3rd year pharmacy student at the UW-Madison School of Pharmacy, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 2nd, 2008, shortly after finishing the Little Rock Marathon, in Little Rock, Arkansas. An avid runner, Adam was training to run in the San Diego Marathon to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of his grandmother.

The University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy has established the Adam Nickel Memorial Scholarship Fund. This permanent fund will provide an annual scholarship for a Pharm.D student. Recipients of the Nickel Scholarship will be students with the following characteristics: a passion for athletics, exercise, and their benefits to health; employment during pharmacy school in a clinical environment that puts learning into immediate action to help patients; and a commitment to helping others as evidenced by fund raising activities or community service.  This very special fund will allow future "Nickel Scholars" to carry the legacy of Adam's life and his passion for his chosen profession into the future of pharmacy.
